I photographed the Off-White boutique at Marina Ibiza, a retail space opening onto the harbour. The series moves from the illuminated storefront to the interior, where timber furniture, a pale-pink counter, metal display rails and a multicoloured column sit alongside the collection.
A shopfront connected to the marina
The glazed frontage gives passers-by a view through the store. At blue hour, the illuminated interior stands out against the darker exterior, bringing the clothing, furniture and entrance together in a single view. Inside, the camera follows the route from the window to the display tables, fitting area and shelving.
The photographs record different arrangements of the space. Wide views establish the relationship between the counter, displays and circulation; closer frames show the woven fronts of the timber cabinets, the rails, accessories and the distinctive speaker cabinet.
Virgil Abloh and a practice across disciplines
Virgil Abloh founded Off-White in 2013. With a background in civil engineering and a master’s degree in architecture, his work crossed fashion, design, art and music. The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago brought these disciplines together in its 2019 exhibition Figures of Speech.
Photographing spaces for brands
For a retail commission, a complete set of images needs to show both the identity of the brand and the practical arrangement of the space. I combine exterior and interior views with details of materials, lighting and display, creating a consistent visual record that can be adapted to editorial, portfolio and brand communications.
