I photographed Seth & Manni’s for its opening in Ibiza. Founded by Seth Troxler and Manfredi Romano, better known as DJ Tennis, the restaurant, bar and deli brings an unusually graphic interior to Marina Botafoch. Toby Gauley designed the space in collaboration with Memphis Milano, placing recognisable pieces by Ettore Sottsass, Michele De Lucchi and Marco Zanini alongside custom counters, patterned surfaces and a wall of records and speakers.
Seth Troxler and DJ Tennis beyond the booth
Seth Troxler began DJing in Detroit before moving to Berlin, and has been a regular at CircoLoco in Ibiza. DJ Tennis is an Italian DJ and producer, and founder of the Life and Death record label. Their work in food developed alongside their musical careers.
The restaurant opened in September 2026, but food was already part of both founders’ work. Raised near Detroit, Seth Troxler brought American barbecue to London through Smokey Tails, which began in 2013. Manfredi Romano developed Munchietown, a cooking series bringing together musicians and food. Their Ibiza venture combines a restaurant, cocktail bar and takeaway deli.
Music is also visible in the room itself. Records, speakers, turntables and CRT monitors occupy a large built-in cabinet. In the photographs, that wall sits alongside the dining tables and open kitchen, making the founders’ musical background part of the interior’s everyday setting.
Memphis from furniture to the room
Memphis first exhibited in Milan in September 1981. Its use of vivid colour, decorative surfaces and unconventional forms challenged the restraint of modernist furniture. At Seth & Manni’s, that history is present in specific objects: Ettore Sottsass’s Carlton bookcase of 1981, Michele De Lucchi’s First chair of 1983 and Marco Zanini’s Rossella pendant of 1985.
Gauley extends this vocabulary into the larger elements of the space. Curved turquoise canopies meet ribbed orange surfaces, cobalt partitions and stainless steel. Patterned ALPI wood veneers connect the fitted joinery with Sottsass’s material experiments. Against the dark exposed ceiling, these colours define the bar, kitchen and places to sit. According to Elle Decor Italia, the venue also features a neon sculpture and wall installations in the bathrooms by Tobias Rehberger.
Photographing a restaurant with a distinct identity
The wide views show how the dining room, bar and open kitchen fit together. Closer photographs isolate the junctions between coloured metal, figured wood and polished steel. Daylight reveals the depth of the room and the furniture’s outlines; after dark, blue lighting changes the emphasis of the music cabinet. The sequence keeps both scales in view: a recognisable place and the individual decisions that give it character.
