Frequently asked questions
Information to help you plan your photography or film commission.
The project
How do you approach a photography or film commission?
I begin by understanding the project and what its images need to communicate. My architectural training and experience in photography and filmmaking inform how I read the design, light, materials and relationships between spaces. From there, I develop a tailored visual approach that captures the character of the place and serves the purpose of the commission.
Can I commission photography or film separately?
Yes. You can commission photography, film or a production that brings both together. The right approach depends on the project, where the material will be used and what you want to communicate. When both are required, planning them together helps establish a consistent visual direction and coordinate the production.
Do you work outside Ibiza?
I am based in Ibiza and undertake architectural, interior, villa and hotel commissions across Spain and internationally. Travel and production requirements are considered as part of the proposal, taking into account the location, access and scope of the project.
When should I get in touch to plan a shoot?
It helps to start the conversation once you know the purpose of the commission and roughly when you will need the images. For a hotel opening, property launch or architectural presentation, the schedule should allow for preparing the spaces, production and post-production. You do not need to have every detail in place before getting in touch.
Preparation and production
How should the property be prepared?
Preparation is an important part of the finished work. Before the shoot, we review the key spaces, their orientation, access and the details that need attention. We also establish any requirements for cleaning, presentation or styling, and who will be responsible for them. For operating hotels and occupied properties, planning takes account of daily activity and coordination with the on-site team.
Proposal and delivery
How is a commission priced?
Each proposal reflects the project, creative approach, spaces to be photographed or filmed, production resources, post-production and licensing requirements. The aim is to define an investment that is appropriate to the visual material you need and the role it will play in your communications. To prepare a quotation, I first need to understand the project and its scope.
What will I receive, and when will it be delivered?
The proposal sets out the photographs or film pieces to be delivered, the post-production involved, delivery formats and included revisions. These are shaped around the intended uses, such as a website, editorial submission, social media or an advertising campaign. The delivery schedule is agreed before the commission is confirmed, taking account of the scope and when the material is needed.
Usage and privacy
What usage rights are included? Can other parties involved in the project use the images?
Permitted uses are defined in the licence for each commission. It is helpful to identify from the outset who needs to use the material and where: the owner, architect, interior designer, hotel, agency or other businesses. This allows their requirements to be considered in the proposal. Any additional users or uses can be reviewed and licensed separately where appropriate.
More about image licensingHow do you handle privacy requirements?
Please raise any privacy requirements, access restrictions or limitations on publication at the beginning of the conversation. Before confirming the commission, we agree which spaces may be photographed or filmed and how the material may be shared, including any potential use in my portfolio and professional channels.
Getting started
What information do you need to prepare a proposal?
Start with the location, a brief description of the project and what you need to communicate. A few photographs or a reference link, any proposed dates and the intended uses of the material are also helpful. If you are still deciding between photography, film or both, we can explore the right approach during our initial conversation.
